RB Leipzig won a short-term friendly against Polish first division club Slask Wroclaw 4:2 (2:1).
Head coach Marco Rose was also happy about Timo Werner’s goal on the training academy pitch, who made it 4-1 in the 65th minute.
The striker is still without a goal in the current Bundesliga season and was not nominated by national coach Hansi Flick for the upcoming international matches against Japan and France.
Fabio Carvalho (17th) scored the opening goal for the German Cup winners, who used eight young players due to a total of 14 international appearances, with a direct shot from close range.
Just four minutes later, Kenneth Zohore scored a direct free kick for the third-placed Ekstraklasa. Newcomer goalkeeper Leopold Zingerle had no chance.
Shortly before the break, U19 player Jakob Sachse (37th) scored with a header after a free kick from David Raum.
After the substitution, Carvalho increased again (54′), before Werner (65′) outran his opponent in a running duel and deliberately pushed the ball into the bottom left corner. Werner has been waiting for a goal in a competitive game for 726 minutes.
The guests reduced the score to 4-2 with a penalty from Petre Schwarz (82′).
