DANIEL, how did the company come about?
The company started very timidly in the winter of 2015. The reality is that I needed some shelves for my house and so I bought some melamine cutouts at work (at that time I was an employee at a Placa Centro, a store that sells melamine wood panels). .
Once I put them in my dining room, on the shelves, I received a visit from a friend at my house who, when he saw them, asked me: “Where did you buy them?” to which I replied: “No, nowhere, I made them with some wood that I bought in the laburo.” So this friend tells me that he encourages me to make more and that I sell them on the Internet, and that it’s going to be good for me because there aren’t these kinds of shelves.
At first I flatly refused because in my head there were only 4 concerns, labor speaking: what time do you start?, what time do you leave?, what time is lunch?, what is the payment date? . Today I remembered it for this note and I laughed!! but it was as I thought!
The following year this company makes a definitive closure, therefore, they fire us all. Likewise, during that last year I was encouraging myself little by little and I was selling very minimalist products. But that dismissal was like a strong push to start my own project. So in 2016 TOCO MADERA was officially born.
How did you feel being an independent Entrepreneur?
I would lie to you if I tell you that it was easy to maintain the rhythm or the spirit of “entrepreneur” during the first year. It took a lot because there were things that I had to change, for example: my very poor ability to manage money, both in budgets and in sales earnings. It really was a disaster! Today, I am more organized, I pass the budgets in a timely manner, and although there is always something to improve, there is a very big change, thank God, since I have a wonderful woman by my side who helped me a lot, with the organization, with entrepreneurship and as a professional. I also have a beautiful daughter who always gives me strength to achieve new goals. By the way, I send you a huge hug when you read this! I love them!
Since when have you been doing this?
Toco Madera since 2019, which is uninterrupted and full time providing Custom Furnishing service. Although we started in 2016, I was working in a dependency relationship for 3 years, until a person came along who helped me a lot to believe in the potential of this job and encouraged me not to give up and to believe more in myself.
What products do you provide to the public?
We are dedicated to manufacturing, designing, preparing, and installing furniture for: houses, apartments, offices, companies, health centers, etc.
Sometimes the designs are our own, other times the designs are put together by the architects who hire us, or the final consumer client also puts together a sketch, we help to accommodate it and sometimes we improve it. We use Top Quality wood and fittings because we believe that a piece of furniture has to last for years!
Most of the products they request are kitchen furniture and closets or dressing rooms, these are the most requested products. But we manufacture many more products! For example: coat racks, drawers, desks, shelves, libraries, tables, TV racks, wood wall coverings, cellars and much more!
Our slogan is TOUCH WOOD, more than furniture. This is because we are dedicated to the placement of acoustic panels, plasterboard (durlock) and remodeling in general. We decorate premises: clothing, cafeterias, breweries, recording studios, churches, we also make furniture with an industrial style, which is a combination of iron and wood.
Where are they currently located?
Today we are in San Miguel, with our own store with a workshop at Av Balbin 258 from Monday to Friday from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. and Saturdays from 8 a.m. to 12 p.m.
What do you think is coming for the future?
I am a person of Faith, I believe in a very certain way that great works and great projects are ahead. This 2024 is going to be the year in which entrepreneurs and merchants are going to reap what we have sown for years.
We are looking forward to providing another type of service with furniture in permanent stock for immediate delivery, so that people who want it can take it away at the moment.
Since I have a store on the street, I discovered another world, that of quick purchase and delivery because that person just moved and has no furniture, or simply wants to buy a piece of furniture and take it with them at the moment.
We also want to upload tutorials to help other people who want to be encouraged to work with wood. We are going to teach how to make furniture of all kinds. On the YouTube channel we are going to publish it on our Instagram.
