U2 open up about Larry’s failure at the Sphere shows in Las Vegas

The U2 residency at the MSG Sphere in Las Vegas starts on September 29th, entitled “U2:UV Warning Baby Live at Sphere”. Larry Mullen Jr will not be there. The Irish rock band’s drummer is currently recovering from an operation and will therefore not be standing or sitting on stage at the first concerts. “The whole band and certainly the audience will be very sad and will miss Larry,” U2 bassist Adam Clayton told the British newspaper “Daily Star” about their decision. “He wants to come back, he wants to have a long career and continue his drumming, so he’s dealing with those injuries,” explains the band member.

However, a replacement has already been taken care of. Bram van den Berg, drummer for Dutch band Krezip, will perform on stage in Mullen’s place. For this, the band got the blessing of their injured colleague. “He’s totally behind the idea of us going on stage with Bram,” Clayton continues. “I’m sure it’s a difficult moment for Larry to know that your band is going on stage and you’re not there.”

Also on September 28, the fan experience Zoo Station: A U2:UV Experience opens at the luxury hotel The Venetian Resort in Las Vegas, ushering in the rock band’s live shows. In addition to merchandise shops and a bar, the center for U2 fans also offers the “Zoo TV Cinema” and a gallery. It is intended to give fans a distinct understanding of the U2 album “Achtung Baby”.
