Koijk talks about it with fire. Ever since he read a comic strip by Olivier B. Bommel and Tom Poes for the first time as a little boy in 1968, he was hooked. “The drawings were so beautiful, I fell in love with them. When I could also read the texts, I immediately became a fan. The atmosphere, beauty and the refined humor, beautiful.”
He is writing a book about Marten Toonder and a year ago he opened the museum on Stationstraat. “And now it’s time to do something special,” laughs the director. “For this exhibition we have borrowed original work by Toonder, which is not normally lent out by the Literature Museum.” Toonder’s unique works can be seen in the Bommel and Tom Poes Museum until 25 November.
