Shortly before that, the hostage had managed to run out of the Apple Store to pick up a package at the door. When the hostage-taker went after him, the police were able to overpower the perpetrator. The hostage-taker was hit hard by a police car. A mobile medical team put him on a stretcher. A police spokesman has yet to say anything about his injuries.
The hostage has been taken to safety, police said. His condition has not yet been reported.
It is not yet known what preceded the hostage-taking. An employee of the Apple Store is said to have previously said it was a robbery, according to AT5. Police have yet to comment on whether the hostage-taker made demands during the hours he spent at the property.
