O’Connor’s children and extended family placed an ad in The Irish Times newspaper. In it, the relatives of the “Nothing Compares 2 U” singer are grateful for all expressions of condolence, public actions and art projects in memory of O’Connor and the organization of the funeral service.
The ad reads: “Sinéad’s children, along with their extended family, would like to thank the countless kind people who have shared and expressed their condolences on Sinéad’s recent passing. The helpful family support is greatly appreciated.”
Many supporters are even named, including Irish President Michael D. Higgins. She is also grateful to the media, which published numerous tributes and articles about her life and work after Sinéad O’Connor. Despite the lively sympathy, the family once again points out that the privacy of O’Connor’s three children in particular should continue to be respected.
