Did you know that IKEA has been in Delft for 30 years this month? Many products have disappeared over the years, but many have remained. These are the three most popular products.
POANG chair
You probably know this armchair. This product is an icon of the IKEA product family and has been part of the IKEA range for decades. In 1992 the fabric chair was also available in a leather version. The chair has only become more comfortable over the years. The chair is still made of beech wood, which means it bounces nicely. But the armchair now has a wonderfully soft and thick polyester cushion, so that you sit even more relaxed. Extra nice: there is now also a small version for sale. So you and your children can sit and relax together.
LACK table
Do you need a bedside table, coffee table or side table? This handy table does the trick† The LACK table is versatile and fits into any interior. This table has been for sale at IKEA since 1979 (!). In the 1992 catalog you even see a variant with a glass plate in the middle. Or how about the moss green and burgundy versions? Super-de-luxe for that time! Nowadays you can this table in black, white, black-brown or wood look.
KLIPPAN sofa
This timeless sofa has been available at IKEA since the 1980s and is still a favorite. It will last for years due to the wear-resistant metal springs in the seat. Now the upholstery of the sofa is made of polyester and cotton, but in the past you could choose between seven different fabrics and buffalo leather. Not much has been done to the model, except for the legs of the sofa. They are now a bit further to the armrests of the sofa. Did you know that they used to even have a variant where you could fold out the sofa into a sofa bed?
The catalog of the year 1992
Besides all those products that have been around for years, a lot of products have also disappeared from the range since 1992. For example, did you know that IKEA used to sell paint and wallpaper as well? In addition, long-playing records were fashionable at that time. Check out what cool cabinets they made for this! In addition, the catalog also contained images of fabric samples from specific sofas. We really can’t imagine that now. Would you like to see more of these catalogues? There is a digital IKEA museumwhere you can browse catalogs from the year 1950.
Dining at IKEA Delft
Due to the relaxation, it is possible to enjoy in after a very long time the IKEA Delft restaurant† Come and enjoy the American pancakes for breakfast, gravad lax for lunch or eat your fill of Swedish balls. All this is of course possible for next to nothing, as you are used to from IKEA. In the past you paid 0.88 euros converted for a piece of almond or chocolate-almond cake. Now you pay a little more for that, but then it also contains Daim caramel. That’s going to be fun!
