It was held from August 19 to 21 on Alfajor World Championship in the rural. With the participation of different brands from all regions of the country, even from other countries, the best alfajor of the contest was chosen. The jury in charge of awarding one was made up of chefs, pastry chefs, food engineers, specialists in sensory analysis, influencers of alfajores and journalists.

The World Cup exceeded the expectations of both the organizers, the exhibitors and the public who attended. It is estimated that they were around 40,000 people those who toured the various stands and tasted the variants of the legendary candy. In total, there were more than 70 exhibitors at the show. Companies and SMEs of Argentina, Uruguay, Colombia, Brazil, Ecuador, Spain, Paraguay, Peru, Canada and the United States.

The Best Alfajor in the World 2023 went to Alfajor I want which is made in the town of Bell, Buenos Aires province. The jury awarded the winner for his curious triple chocolate cookie recipe, filled with dulce de leche and peanut ganache, with a semi-sweet chocolate bath. According to Taster de Alfajores, the merit of this alfajor is that its makers managed to “make a triple that is not a bodoque; a subtle and precise triple, which gives meaning to its condition as a triple”.

Alfajores Quiero is a family business that started just over two years ago. The owners admit that its preparation is based on a traditional recipe in which all the elements are cooked at home, including the peanut paste. “We are not a company! We are a family rowing it every day and this was the recognition of so many hours of insomnia, of inventing, of investing in courses and giving mine a try until saying enough is enough”, the winners declared to the media.

Alfajor I want

Through a blind tasting, each tournament judge evaluates more than 35 sensory characteristics. The best scores from each of the 19 categories enter the podium and take Gold, Silver or Bronze medals. The categories vary according to the styles of the candies: white, fruit, confectionery, triple, cornstarch, dulce de leche, black and simple alfajores, among other variations, are part of the selection.

Also, in this edition, there were medals for the best packaging, the best aroma and the best authorship. Of all the medalists in the different shortlists, the winner of the annual contest is chosen. On this occasion, the top prize went to a triple-style alfajor from Buenos Aires.
