Gastón Ávila is the next reinforcement for Ajax. The Argentinian defender comes over from the Belgian Antwerp FC and has signed a contract in Amsterdam until the summer of 2028.
Ajax pays around 12 million for 21-year-old Ávila. Royal Antwerp took over Ávila from Boca Juniors for about 4 million euros last year. Last season he played 22 games for the team of coach Mark van Bommel.
In Amsterdam, Ávila must become the new left back in Maurice Steijn’s team. During the preparation, the Ajax trainer announced that Anass Salah-Eddine and former AZ player Owen Wijndal were not satisfied with that position.
Ávila is already the ninth reinforcement for Ajax this season. Branco van den Boomen, Jakov Medic, Anton Gaaei, Diant Ramaj, Benjamin Tahirovic, Chuba Akpom, Carlos Forbs and Josip Sutalo have already been captured.
