In Great Britain, a number of actors want to commit the film industry to more climate protection.
The Equity union is campaigning for more environmental considerations in contracts between stars and production companies, the PA news agency reported on Tuesday.
Campaign supporters include Bella Ramsey (“The Last of Us”), Hayley Atwell (“Mission: Impossible – Dead Reckoning”), Mark Rylance (“The Outfit”), Bill Nighy (“Love Actually”) and Natalie Dormer (Game of Thrones).
The film industry has long been discussing how it can become more climate-friendly, including in Germany. So far, for example, people often fly or drive to different locations for filming. The campaign also discusses the use of green electricity, catering and packaging material.
The British campaign envisages that film and television stars can draw on a list of demands. You should be able to use this “Green Rider” in negotiations. Possible clauses can be that artists do not fly with private jets or that a production company has to submit a plan to reduce climate-damaging carbon dioxide, as PA further reported.
