Does FC Bayern use RB Leipzig again?

FC Bayern could still be moving on the right side of defense by Deadline Day. Benjamin Pavard wants to leave, a move to Inter Milan is getting closer. In return, a replacement would have to be found, which could obviously come from Leipzig.

Dayot Upamecano, Konrad Laimer, Marcel Sabitzer, Julian Nagelsmann – even if the latter two have already left FC Bayern, the list of side changers between Leipzig and Munich is long and prominent.

If defensive all-rounder Benjamin Pavard says goodbye to Säbener Straße in the next few days, according to information from the “Abendzeitung” an RB ace could be in the record champions’ sights again.

What is meant is Lukas Klostermann, who has been playing for Leipzig for nine years now and became a German senior there. His current working paper expires in 2024, so the transfer fee for the 27-year-old should no longer be too high.

In addition, the former player from Bochum and Pavard can be used flexibly, Klostermann feels comfortable in defense both inside and out. In 145 Bundesliga appearances, he scored ten times.

FC Bayern: Klostermann pursued by bad luck with injuries

However, this is also where the biggest problem lies: Klostermann is currently in his eighth Bundesliga season, but has only played 145 times in Germany’s elite class.

Again and again, some serious injuries threw the defender back, in 2022/2023 there were just 904 league minutes spread over 15 games. How resilient Klostermann actually is remains questionable.

At Bayern, he would probably fight with Noussair Mazraoui for a place in the team. The Moroccan international would be the only serious competitor at right-back if Pavard were to be sold.

Bouna Sarr, on the other hand, has long since ceased to play a role in the club’s plans.
