Keven Schlotterbeck played 13 times (2 goals) on loan for VfL Bochum in the second half of the season – more appearances will probably be added shortly. As the “Picture“ reported that the 26-year-old central defender, the Revierklub and SC Freiburg agree on another loan, this time for a whole year.
A purchase option should not be part of the deal. Bochum actually signed Schlotterbeck on a permanent basis, but reportedly couldn’t come to an agreement with Freiburg financially. VfL has not yet recorded any transfer income this summer, which is offset by expenditure of around 2.5 million euros for Moritz-Broni Kwarteng (25), Maximilian Wittek (28) and Bernardo (28). The other additions to Felix Passlack (25) came free of charge (to overview).
Sabitzer, Kim, Gosens & Co.: Top Bundesliga transfers in summer 2023
Robin Gosens | Inter -> Union Berlin | Market value: €15 million
Transfer fee: €13m plus €2m in bonuses (In this gallery, arrivals and departures are taken into account and listed according to market value or transfer fee, whichever is higher. As of August 18, 2023)
El Chadaille Bitshiabu | PSG -> RB Leipzig | Transfer fee: €15 million
Schlotterbeck was in the squad for Freiburg’s Bundesliga opening win against Hoffenheim (2-1), but the prospect of playing time is likely to have been slim this season given the great competition in defense. Coach Christian Streich has the established Matthias Ginter (29) and Philipp Lienhart (27) as regulars in his back four. Veteran Manuel Gulde (32) is also available, as is homegrown Kenneth Schmidt (21), who has just been extended, and Max Rosenfelder (20), who has been promoted to the pros.
