Series based on bestsellers are back in season. This one is dedicated to Holly Ringland’s debut novel. Alice Hart was nine years old when her parents died in a fire. The disturbed girl comes to her grandmother’s farm (greatly harsh: Sigourney Weaver), where some abused women have also found shelter. Alice slowly struggles out of her speechlessness and grows up, but the next brutal chapter is already waiting.
The enchanting shots of Australia and the exotic flowers there, which are of course a metaphor for innocence, blossoming and all that, only break up the dreary mood for a moment, the seven-part is a tough chunk about male violence and fatal silence. (Amazon Prime Video)
