Hertha BSC only extended the contract of offensive jewel Derry Scherhant in July until 2027. Nevertheless, the winger could leave Berlin this summer.
As the portal “footballinsider247.com” reports, the English second division club Blackburn Rovers is courting Scherhant’s services. Accordingly, the traditional club wants to borrow the 20-year-old Hertha professional for the 2023/2024 season.
According to the report, Burnley FC is also putting out feelers to Scherhant, with the Premier League club already inquiring about the talent. Newcastle United have also been said to be interested.
Scherhant extends at Hertha BSC
Scherhant only signed a new contract with Hertha BSC about a month ago. “Derry plays an important role in our planning,” said Hertha’s sporting director Benjamin Weber: “He already gained Bundesliga experience last season, now we trust him to take the next step in development. With his dynamism, Derry will be a valuable option for our offensive game be.”
Scherhant comes from the youth of Hertha BSC. Last season, the left winger was promoted to the professional team for the first time and made a total of ten Bundesliga appearances. He even scored a goal.
In the current season, Scherhant has only played one game at the start of the 2nd Bundesliga. He was not in the squad for the other two games.
For Hertha BSC II, the native of Berlin has already scored four points in two games (three goals, one assist) in the Northeast Regional League.
With Jessic Ngankam, Hertha has already lost a highly rated offensive gem in this transfer window. The striker joined Eintracht Frankfurt, the old lady received a relatively low transfer fee of around four million euros for the U21 international.
