Alpine skiing | Olympic champion shares baby news: “I’m so happy”

Until her retirement in spring 2019, the Swede Frida Hansdotter was one of the big stars in alpine skiing. A year later, her first child was born, and now the 37-year-old is happy to have children again.

Frida Hansdotter could not and did not want to hide her joy: the 2018 Olympic champion in slalom is expecting her second child together with her partner Richard Jansson, a former ice hockey player.

“I’m so happy, excited and grateful to be able to share this incredible news with you guys. I can’t wait until I’m a mother of two. Do you think it’s a boy or a girl?” Hansdotter asked her Followers on Instagram.

A clearly visible baby bump is already visible under her red dress. The Swede gave birth to her first son in 2020.

Olympic victory, small crystal ball and several world championship medals for Hansdotter

Frida Hansdotter’s greatest sporting success of her alpine skiing career was undoubtedly winning the gold medal at the Pyeongchang Olympic Games in spring 2018. In slalom she was able to win one of a total of seven Swedish gold medals. With a wafer-thin lead of just five hundredths, she won from the Swiss Wendy Holdener.

In addition, Hansdotter secured several World Championship medals in the course of her career. In 2017 in St. Moritz she won two bronze medals, in 2015 she took silver in Beaver Creek. She returned from the Alpine World Ski Championships in Schladming in 2013 with a silver and a bronze World Championship medal. Her greatest success in the overall World Cup was a fifth place finish in the 2015/16 season, in the same year she also won the small slalom crystal globe.

After retiring from professional sport four years ago, Hansdotter worked as a winter sports expert for the “Viaplay” channel.
