Volland’s return to the Bundesliga perfect

Bundesliga club Union Berlin is further upgrading for the premiere season in the Champions League. Two days after signing national player Robin Gosens, the Irons announced the transfer of ex-national striker Kevin Volland on Thursday evening. The 31-year-old comes from Ligue 1 club AS Monaco and is expected to cost around four million euros. Union did not provide any information about the contract period.

“In every conversation we had with Kevin, we felt how much he wanted to go back to Germany and the Bundesliga. Over the years, he has proven his qualities in front of goal both nationally and internationally. We’re looking forward to this offensively flexible player “said managing director Oliver Ruhnert about the ninth summer addition.

Volland confirmed his joy at returning to the Bundesliga. “I grew up in the Bundesliga and have never lost sight of it. I’m very happy that I’m still getting the chance to play at the highest level here at Union,” said Volland: “The club and the team have big plans in the coming period, I want to do my best to do my part.”

The 15-time international is the fifth new signing for the offensive after Mikkel Kaufmann, Benedict Hollerbach, Brenden Aaronson and David Datro Fofana. Before moving to the Principality three years ago, Volland was active in the Bundesliga for TSG Hoffenheim (144 games) and Bayer Leverkusen (148).

Union starts the new Bundesliga season on Sunday with a home game against FSV Mainz 05 (3:30 p.m. / DAZN).
