Slovenian team Maribor and Fenerbahçe met at the Ljudski Vrt Stadium in the third qualifying round of the UEFA European Conference League. In the 66th minute of the match, a fight broke out between the stands of Fenerbahçe fans and the stands of the home team. A supporter jumping from the Maribor tribunes to the area behind the castle, turned towards the Fenerbahce stands and attacked the banner. Then one of the yellow-dark blue fans went down to that area and took the banner back.
While the struggle stopped at this minute, the events were tried to calm down with the intervention of the police. Then, a sound bomb was thrown from the Maribor tribunes to the stands where Fenerbahce fans were. Tensions grew after this incident. It was seen that the police detained some fans. While trying to calm the fans, İrfan Can Kahveci was booed by throwing a water bottle from the stands. The referee of the fight with UEFA representatives, Fabio Verissimo, exchanged ideas on the situation of the match for a long time. Then, in the 89th minute, an announcement was made for the Turkish, yellow-dark blue fans to leave the stadium. After the Fenerbahce fans left the stadium, the match continued 30 minutes later.
