Midfielder Prömel is moving from Union to TSG Hoffenheim

Sinsheim (AP) – Midfielder Grischa Prömel is leaving 1. FC Union Berlin at the end of the season and moving to TSG 1899 Hoffenheim within the Bundesliga. Both clubs announced this.

The 27-year-old has a long-term contract with the Kraichgau team until June 30, 2026. “Grischa is a player with outstanding running skills and an enormous presence, who can act very flexibly in midfield and also has a great understanding of the game,” said Hoffenheim’s sporting director Alexander roses. After Max Kruse and Marvin Friedrich, Union will lose the next top performer to a league competitor in the summer.

Prömel previously played at Hoffenheim between 2013 and 2015, back then for the U19s and the club’s second team. Rosen now praised Prömel’s development, who has played for Karlsruher SC since leaving TSG and for the capital city since 2017.

Union managing director Oliver Ruhnert said: “Grischa has grown together with Union over the years and has played a major part in the success of the club. But Grischa was not only an important part of the team in terms of sport.” Prömel himself emphasized that he would miss “driving into the parking lot at the old forester’s shop in the morning and meeting the first employees who greet you with a smile on their face”.
