Currently, only vaccinated foreigners are allowed into Israel. Israel closed its borders in March 2020. “We are seeing a consistent decline in death rates, so now is the time to gradually open what we closed first in the world,” Prime Minister Naftali Bennett said. “We will keep a finger on the pulse and will respond quickly in the event of a new variant.”

The number of visits from foreigners has risen after some easing, but still far from pre-pandemic levels. Last month, 46,000 tourists came to Israel. That was 333,000 in January 2020.
