Groen Geel knew that with a win it can do excellent business in the relegation pool. The club from Wormer took six points from the regular competition and opponent Dalto was still scoreless. That difference was hardly noticeable in the mutual match in the Groen Geel hall.

“We were a lot better in the first half, but the difference was not big enough”

Towards the end of the first half, the scoring was level. Green Yellow always had a lead, but was unable to run away (8-8). It was even until 12-12, but then the home team made a hole, leaving Groen Geel with a 15-13 lead. “The difference should have been bigger. We let too many goals through, so you let Dalto live. We were a lot better in the first half, but the difference was not big enough,” said Groen Geel player Terrenc Griemink afterwards.

Harmzen’s team only really hit a gap with the team from Driebergen (19-15) after the break. The visitors couldn’t get over that and saw Groen Geel score some more goals. The counter eventually stopped at 27 for Groen Geel, which eventually won by five goals: 27-22. “In the first half, Dalto remains hanging on an elastic. I had the idea that we were enjoying the game and that we would pull the game to us. It took a little longer, but it worked”, was the comment from Groen Geel coach Daniel Harmzen afterwards.

Blauw-Wit leads the relegation group. The team from Amsterdam won 17-18 at TOP tonight and now have ten points from five games. Green Yellow follows in second place with eight points. “If you win against KCC next week, we can focus on the top two and that is direct enforcement,” said Harmzen.

Championship group
