Cas friends made a timeline of what happened that night. According to the parents, a part of seven or eight minutes is missing from the film. When they first see the surveillance footage of the party, it further confirms their suspicion.
“You see Cas leave the site. Then a man walks behind him, another lady pulls this man’s shirt. Then she falls and bystanders take care of her. Later you see Cas disappearing behind the party tent on the camera images, the man follows him. But the camera images actually end there and we do not see what happens next. “
The family has now engaged a lawyer to publicly release the images that the police have. “Tips could come in about the evening,” Albertine explains. The police have already announced that they will not continue the investigation because there are no leads.
An action is now underway on social media, set up by acquaintances of the family, to call on witnesses to report if they may have received something. “Cas’s parents know approximately where all visitors came from last year. For example, Zuidwolde or further away on Urk. Residents from those places will then see an advertisement on Facebook or Instagram with the call to report something if they saw something suspicious that night,” says one of the initiators of the action, who prefers not to be named.
The advertisement is therefore intended for a specific group. In addition to Zuidwolde and Urk, people from Hoogeveen, Meppel, Staphorst, Dedemsvaart, Balkbrug and Hardenberg can also expect a message. The target group focuses on the age group between 18 and 35, Cas’ age group. In total, the ad reached more than 20,000 people.
“There must have been people who received or saw something,” Albertine continues. She therefore hopes for many reports. “We can’t get Cas back with it, but you just want to know what happened,” adds father Luuk.
