Podolski is not yet thinking about the end of his career

Even at the age of 38, Lukas Podolski is far from thinking about the end of his career.

“I still have this feeling, this desire and greed to fight for the three points every weekend. It’s just fun for me. Sure, it’ll be over at some point, but not yet,” said the 2014 world champion on “Sky” .

In mid-May, Podolski had extended his contract with the Polish first division club Gornik Zabrze by two years until 2025. “I’ve always said: if the head and the legs are involved, then I want to practice this sport, which I love so much and for which I sacrificed my whole childhood, for a very long time. I always wanted to play, whether at Effzeh or then become a national player,” said the long-time Cologne resident.

He did have offers from the desert, but such a change was out of the question for him. “Indeed, the requests were there, also last year and the year before I moved to Poland. But I wanted to go back to where I started my career as a little boy – where my whole family comes from,” he said.
