Lieke Klaver has set a new personal best in the 400 meters at the Diamond League in Chorzwo, Poland. The athlete from Enkhuizen crossed the line after 49.81 seconds, her best time of her career. That was an improvement of almost four-tenths on her old PR (50.18).
Her final time also earned her second place in the competition. Poland’s Natalia Kaczmarek won in 49.48 seconds. Marileidy Paulino was third.

Klaver is the second Dutchman who has managed to dive below the magical limit of fifty seconds. Femke Bol holds the current Dutch record with 49.44. The Noord-Hollandse Klaver already qualified for the Olympic Games in Paris two weeks ago. She did this by crossing the line after 50.40 seconds in the 400 meters.
She already won the 200 meters at the European Championship for national teams at the end of last month. Klaver is therefore in great shape in the run-up to the World Athletics Championships. They will be held from August 19 in Budapest, Hungary. The athlete also participates in the 400 meters. Last year she also participated in the World Cup in Eugene in that part and then finished fourth.
