Please wait. Most of the Netherlands is on holiday from this weekend, but Drenthe is not yet. Still out and about? You can do that in our province. It will be sunny, but also rainy weather this weekend.

Great to go to a fun event in shorts and a poncho.

Are you a horse lover? Then you will enjoy yourself this weekend in Drenthe. There is a summer competition in Meppel, organized by Pony Club Meppel. For the show jumping riders, the competition starts at 9:00 am in Manege Oosterboer and the dressage starts on the other side of Manege Oosterboer, at Stables Jonkeren.

There are also competitions in Veeningen. The competition equestrian De Wolden will be held there this weekend. Several winning horses and riders do their rounds in the arena. For example, Michael Greeve from Veeningen will ride a home race, but other toppers from the area such as Marcelle Hokse (Staphorst) and Peter Hokse (Rouveen), Angelique Hoorn (Wanneperveen) and Albert Zoer (Echten) are also on the start list.

Do you miss CH De Wolden this weekend? Next week it’s time for the harness horses.

Feel free to call it a horse weekend, because during the Oosterfeest Zuidlaren Equestrian Association Eext organizes a Ride, Run & Bike together with exhibition association Oostermoer. This is a sporting event in which a runner or cyclist completes a course together with rider and horse. The start and finish are at riding school Laarwoud in Zuidlaren and the route goes over paved and unpaved paths. Participants can choose between 10 or 5 kilometers. You really don’t have to be a top athlete to participate: you can participate in the class that suits you at your own pace.

It is of course also possible to just come and watch.
