Willeke Alberti expresses quite strong criticism of De Amsterdamse Zomer, the annual concerts of the couple Bas Smit and Nicolette van Dam. “They should have seen this.”

Bas Smit completely lost his influencer skin last weekend when the media was critical of the mega blunder during his Amsterdam Summer concert. At the end of the evening, André Hazes jr. was cut short in the middle of his hit Live: his sound was turned down, the music stopped and everyone had to leave the stadium in a hurry.

Willie responds

What seems? The organization of Bas and his sweetheart Nicolette van Dam had been sleeping terribly all evening. Everyone was so late that André was still on stage after eleven o’clock in the evening, while there was a clear end time on the permit. A considerable beginner’s mistake and, according to RTL Boulevard, André walked off the stage ‘angry’.

Willeke Alberti, who was also on the podium, is sorry for André. “I sang with him the first evening, so special. I hate what everyone does to him. He started fantastically with Blood, Sweat And Tears, but during his performance at the end of the first night, the lights suddenly went out.”

Criticism of Bass

Bas himself calls the cutting off of André a ‘futility’, but artists who put an incredible amount of preparation into such a performance, of course see it very differently.

Willeke doesn’t think it’s possible either. She says in the Weekend: “I don’t blame anyone, but the people of the organization should have seen that in advance. You can’t do that to André. He has to go through that again. But he does it anyway.”

In other words: Willeke thinks this is absolutely not futility, as Bas calls it.

Drunk Tino

What does she think of André always being attacked like this? “Let’s stop destroying everyone. That makes me very sad. Also Tino Martin, then he walks away and is so happy that it went well. I said to him, ‘Back, go to your audience, they will cheer for you.’ That audience is so important in our lives.’”

Nice then, Tino wants to have a nice drink after his performance, Willeke suddenly gets in the way. After that second round of applause, he surely ran to the bar after all. Fine, says the singer. “The audience is also drunk when they go home. It is what it is.”
