Here it is: Inter, built with lucidity in every department, a few hours before the meeting and little more than a month from the start of the championship, still don’t know who will defend their posts and who will be the striker. All roads lead to Trubin (and Sommer) and Lukaku. The three of them are designated to complete the squad, net of possible developments which, however, are currently considered “secondary”: a defender is missing – Chalobah and Demiral are the favorites – and one must always keep a question mark over Correa and Gosens, with possible substitutes then to go fishing. But it is clear that the efforts are all aimed at the goalkeepers – Onana, destined for Manchester United, and Handanovic are to be replaced – and at the attacker. Operations from which the future of Inzaghi’s team will inevitably pass: the squad needs to be completed with two big players. More than the icing, we’re talking about cake here.

Then there is another aspect to take into consideration: we are almost in mid-July, for many teams the bulk is done and there aren’t many top players to be able to snatch around at this point. So for Trubin, Sommer and Lukaku, if it’s not an all-in, we’re close: they’re the profiles identified some time ago, Inter is dedicating all its energy and constant undercurrent work to them. The situation will be unblocked by the success of the Onana-United deal, from which the Nerazzurri would then have the liquidity to try the assault on Romelu and to close the double goalkeeper. It’s forbidden to let these three slip away: at the moment, especially in attack, there doesn’t seem to be any level alternatives. It is almost impossible to find a striker with Lukaku’s impact on the market, which is why Inter want to close soon. To avoid nasty surprises and to give Inzaghi the 9, but also the 1: two shots that come after the others, but which will probably be more decisive.
