Kaweh Niroomand, former Vice President of the German Olympic Sports Confederation (DOSB), sees a possible German bid for the Summer Games in 2036 as an opportunity.
“We could show the world 100 years after the Nazi games how much Germany has developed. The world should see and experience that we are a democratic, open, tolerant and welcoming country,” said NiroomandManaging Director of BR Volleys, the “Daily Mirror”. “You shouldn’t be afraid that right-wing circles will take advantage of the Olympics.”

The 2006 World Cup and the recent Special Olympics World Games held in Berlin showed “that major international sporting events not only generate enormous social integration power, but also contribute greatly to a positive image of Germany in the world,” said the 70-year-old. He was Vice President of the DOSB until 2021.
At the beginning of the year, the German umbrella organization started a strategy process for a new application for summer or winter games. Co-applications from several cities also seem possible. The next summer games are already assigned to Paris 2024, Los Angeles 2028 and Brisbane 2032.
