The sixth edition of Boet’n Pop Rolde will be held this weekend on the green in the middle of the village. Five questions about this to chairman Gezinus Jansen of the Rolder Activities Foundation.
Hi Gezinus, what is Boet’n Pop actually?
“A beautiful music party on Saturday evening, in the middle of the green in Rolde. There we set up a stage on which various bands play music from the 1960s to the present. Among other things, we have the Status Quotes, which is one of the best status quo tribute bands in Europe. The Clarks are also coming, for example, and this year we even managed to get Bouke from Emmen. He recently won the television program with his ElvisMatters Band The Tribute . Fortunately, we caught him well in time.”
This is already the sixth edition, how did this festival come about?
“In Rolde never much happens, so six years ago I suddenly thought that a music event would be nice. I love music and immediately got about five people very enthusiastic. We then started very carefully with the Rolder Activities Foundation. Every year it’s gotten a little bigger and especially the last few years it’s really going fast. We are just starting to fit in in festival land, haha.”
This year there is already a supporting act on Friday evening. Why?
„ A group of young people around 20 years old wanted to organize something themselves on Friday evening. That has become a Dutch evening, with Dutch music. We thought it was wonderful that the youth is also involved and wants to do something for the village. We are very happy with that. And with that, the whole weekend is a party week, because the Country Music Festival Rolde takes place on Sunday. A great afternoon with music from Ramblin’ Boots and Hannah Mae, among others.”
What makes Boet’n Pop so beautiful?
“The music is good, there is sociability and fun. Moreover, we have never had any complaints, everyone thinks it’s great that we do this, because that means there is something to do in Rolde. It is precisely that enthusiasm that makes it such a great event. And this weekend the weather will be beautiful. What else do you want?”
Are there still tickets for sale?
“Hardly. Bouke is really a crowd puller, it turns out. Moreover, everyone will notice that the weather will be good, which of course also helps. There are still one via the internet few tickets for sale, they cost 20 euros. We always keep a few tickets on hand for spontaneous sale at the box office and we assume that we will reach 2000 visitors. We don’t really need to get any bigger. This way it remains manageable and we can keep it as cheap as possible.”
