In office since 2017
FC Bayern and youth leader Jochen Sauer have extended their cooperation. In addition to his work as director of youth development, the 50-year-old will also take over the management of “Red&Gold Football”, the joint venture with the MLS club Los Angeles FC in order to develop international talent even better in cooperation with partner clubs. The German record champions did not say anything about the duration of Sauer’s contract.
Since the founding of the Bayern campus in the summer of 2017, Sauer has been responsible for the training of talent at Munich. “The FC Bayern Campus is a central component of our planning, and we are aiming for even closer networking and greater permeability here in the future. More FC Bayern talents should make the leap into professional football – ideally with us, of course. Jochen Sauer and his team work tirelessly and with passion so that we can continue to write success stories that originate on our campus,” said CEO Jan-Christian Dreesen.
Under Sauer’s management, young players like Jamal Musiala and Josip Stanisic made it into the professional squad. “Talent development at a top international club like FC Bayern is a major challenge that we are all happy to take on. It is important to keep finding new, creative ways to realize our high sporting ambitions step by step. I am pleased that I will continue to do my part,” explained Sauer.
