Nico Hülkenberg knows how to convince Haas in Formula 1. The German driver has long been looking forward to a contract extension with the US racing team.
“We are very happy with the drivers at the moment. We are not in a hurry with the contract, but we will do it as soon as possible,” said team boss Günther Steiner at the Austrian GP to “Bild”. There would no longer have to be “too many discussions”, explained the South Tyrolean.
Hülkenberg himself recently caught his eye in a conversation with “Sky Sport F1”. “Currently, the stars and the signs are such that the marriage will continue,” said the 35-year-old when asked about his future at Haas.
Formula 1: Hülkenberg ranks ahead of Magnussen
The Emmericher has been driving for the US racing team since this Formula 1 season. As the successor to Mick Schumacher, Hülkenberg is doing a great job, ranking nine points in the drivers’ standings ahead of his teammate Kevin Magnussen (2 points). No wonder, then, that Haas would like to bind the veteran.
Hülkenberg sees himself in Formula 1 for several more years and is already looking forward to the end of the season after next. “A lot will happen in the driver market at the end of 2024, some contracts will expire. I will be as attractive as possible,” said the chosen Monegasse to “Sky”.
Formula 1: Hülkenberg still without a podium place
In general, he follows the motto: “Everything that comes next is an encore,” reveals Hülkenberg. The German can already look back on a long career in Formula 1. To date, Hülkenberg has completed 189 races in the pinnacle of motorsport.
However, the 35-year-old has not yet made it onto the podium. Haas is currently in the lower midfield in Formula 1. In the constructors’ championship, the team is currently seventh ahead of Alfa Romeo, Williams and AlphaTauri.
