There are more and more bangs at the intersection of Landsberger Allee and Ebertystraße in Berlin-Friedrichshain! According to the police, there were only two accidents with personal injuries on Wednesday.

Blame it on cars that want to avoid a construction site and turn left despite the ban…

Last week there were intersection crashes on two consecutive days. Then again on Wednesday.

The problem: there is construction work going on near Danziger Strasse. The cars try to avoid them.

Because turning left is officially only allowed again on Storkower Strasse, despite the ban, turn left beforehand onto Conrad-Blenkle-Strasse. And stand briefly on the tracks.

“The tram has a relatively high speed on the route,” says resident Katharina Schuhen (44). Dangerous! This is because the approaching trams keep ramming cars…

Pedestrians at risk on traffic island

But that’s not all! “But that’s where our problem begins,” continues Schuhen. The accident cars are pushed onto the traffic island by the tram! Pedestrians are waiting for the green phase of the traffic light.

“My children have to walk here every morning on their way to school. This affects a total of around 1,000 children from two schools,” says resident Hanna Bumann (41).

The residents are now demanding a longer green phase for the traffic lights so that pedestrians do not have to wait on the dangerous central island.
