The German volleyball players just missed out on a win against the favorites from Poland in the Nations League.
Coach Vital Heynen’s team lost 2:3 (25:15, 19:25, 19:25, 25:19, 15:17) against the Poles in Suwon, South Korea. The German team now has three defeats after ten games, but still has a good chance of making it into the final round.
In the games of the Volleyball Nations League, points are awarded for the world rankings, which can ultimately be decisive for the Olympic qualification for Paris 2024. Poland is one place ahead of Germany in eighth place in the world rankings.
The top 16 teams in the world for men and women play against each other in the Nations League at different venues over six weeks.
After twelve games per team, the eight best teams advance to the final round. The next opponent of the DVV women is Serbia on Friday at 08:30 German time. Then a decision could already be made as to whether Germany will move into the final round.
