The artist publishes the epé and the video-album ‘Alto cielo’, where she tells the story of a love affair in four stages

It’s only been four months since he closed the ‘Pureza’ tour at Paral·lel 62 and he already has new material. No gap years.

Im not that kind. I’ve been doing this epé, ‘Alto cielo’, on the days I had free, between concerts. I am also preparing an album. But I realized that those four songs responded to a very clear concept and that I couldn’t integrate them into the LP, where they would be lost. And I wanted to make a movie.

‘Alto cielo’, a 15-minute video-album that tells a story.

Those of us who were born between the 80s and 2000 are a generation that no longer believes in love. We lived how divorce was normalized and we saw that the grandmothers put up with it and the mothers said “until here & rdquor ;. And we have made it common to talk about polyamory and open relationships, but in the end everyone falls in love, even those who don’t believe in love.

So, after all, the most revolutionary thing is to fall in love.

Total. Let you go. I don’t think closing a relationship means you have a feeling of ownership; It’s just that you decide to be careful towards someone. In this epé I wanted to show that after all we dare to live love even knowing that it will not work out, because everyone is destined for a break and we are used to a capitalism of love and bodies: a brief relationship, no matter how for the next. That validates us: consume more sex, more love. And we forget that we also fell in love. That’s what happens in this epé.

The four songs go through different phases, from the fear of falling in love to the balance of the relationship that has already ended.

The last song, ‘Aurora’, represents realizing that you are lucky to have been able to love. The candle remains of all that fire, because there is always something of all loves. And how good to have lived it.

Does that message target younger people?

Yes, because there is a void there. I see it in my friends, who are in that move of having to go out every week to have sex. And you’re not freer for it. Sex alone is overrated. It’s nice to dare to fall in love and be wrong, and live intense emotions.

Now that it seems that Tik Tok rules the fate of music, you are betting on a relatively long and demanding format.

You have to try to differentiate things. Just as dancers make a career and ‘tiktokers’ just do little dances, you can record very cool videos with your mobile, but there are people who study cinema. It has been very important to me to give new actors and actresses a chance, and not to call friends of mine who are already doing well. And without putting the focus on me, launching the idea that artists can be 360º leading projects without having to be consumer images.

On this record there are no Cuban influences and, on the other hand, quite electronic.

And ‘Don’t save me’ is a tango, and ‘Aurora’, a copla. In ‘Purity’ I didn’t include so much electronics so there wouldn’t be too many things. ‘Alto cielo’ is not picking up the pretty things I find, but picking up what I have planted in my garden. I was a fan of Camarón, and I come from listening to La Niña de los Peines, and Bernarda and Fernanda de Utrera. And to Missy Elliott, Queen Latifah, Christina Aguilera… I always look for the root, although I transform and regenerate it.

Does trying to revolutionize music appeal to you?

I think we are doing it, although what is revolution? I dare not say that I am a revolutionary, but that this generation is. But all generations are revolutionary. What hasn’t been? That of rock’n’roll was. And there are some familiar faces, and many people behind it: composers, producers, arrangers… There are many invisible people in music.

You talk about community, but in the eyes of the public you have a certain star and diva profile.

I am too, I am. I’m the queen of the stage! False modesty is for other people. After the time I’ve been working, can’t I say that I’m good? I know that there is something magical up there when I get on it, and I work hard to make it something very well done. I speak of community, but I know that I am the one leading that project. I get up and go to bed thinking about him.
