The Barça of the six Leagues: snip after the success

Silent theme. hidden theme. Topic that causes hundreds of comments and rumors. Thousands of leaks. Enough noise for situations that, in principle, seemed, were, agreed. Barça employees have suffered, are suffering and will suffer an uncertain situation. Worse still, given Barça’s numbers, hundreds of them could have been fired and nothing would have happened. The closure of Barça TV this coming June 30 (it cost 14 million euros and only generated two, the club maintains) is a great example.

What’s more, despite having suffered the fear, on more than one occasion, of not collecting the payroll (something that has never happened, despite the difficulties that the club’s treasury was going through), he has always trusted Laporta’s management and, despite the fact that some media outlets published, for example, that the employees had not received the extra pay for the League title, it was paid only days after celebrating the great conquest of this season.

With the numbers on the table, the club’s economic authority could have presented, without blinking an eye, an employment regulation file and have put 200 people on the street at once. That idea, which was in the minds of those responsible for finance, was, they say, stopped by President Joan Laporta himself, by his chief of staff, Manana Giorgadze, and by Eduard Romeu, economic vice president

And, from there, the negotiations began, which were of all kinds because, in effect, each employee is a world and more so if we are talking about more than 1,500 contracted, with a tremendous diversity of agreements, since “only” 530 of They are permanent employees and 70 discontinuous permanent employees, who are the ones who work on game days at the Camp Nou. There are, therefore, hundreds and hundreds of employees known as ‘1006’, who are the ones who work in the sections, Ciudad Deportiva and in the dozens of teams that the more than a club.

Since the entry of the Laporta board of directors in Barcelona, there have been more or less a hundred casualties and a similar number of workers have been hired. Once the possibility of presenting an employment regulation file was ruled out, the heads of the different areas were asked to study those positions that they could do without, those employees who had no content and, of course, to forget to activate those positions that were budgeted for but, at that time, had not yet been covered.

There is a point about which little is said and which hurts, and a lot, the Barça employees and that is that they only represent between 3 and 4% of the club’s global budget, which is why, in many moments, they consider that, Perhaps the club should think about cutting other items rather than their jobs, although they agree that the current board of directors spends the day surfing trying to amortize jobs that, as in many other companies, don’t make much sense.

They do seem to have taken one thing into account from Laporta’s ‘cabin’ and, very especially, his chief of staff Manana Giorgadze. Almost all the crises of many companies start with the noise generated by an employee, or employees, dismissed inappropriately, incorrectly, unfairly or with lower severance pay than their share. Someone thought that it was not possible to create, outside the club, a nucleus of discontented workers, who could have made a lot, a lot of noise, to the point of endangering Laporta’s presidency.

Of course, everyone within the entity considers that this week will be tremendous and, probably, very painful for the hundreds of contracted through ‘1006’, since they are workers (athletes of all specialties, coaches, scouts, technical all kinds, doctors, physios…), especially linked to the Joan Gamper Sports City, whose employment contract ends next Thursday and, in a number that many suspect will be very high, will not be renewed and, furthermore, without any settlement .
