Two schools from the province of Buenos Aires were selected among the 50 finalists at five World’s Best School Prize 2023an award that recognizes the best educational institutions in the world with 50 thousand dollars in five categories: collaboration with the community, environmental action, innovation, overcoming adversity and promoting healthy lives.
Among the 50 finalist establishments of the contest, the public management secondary school President Domingo F. Sarmiento, from the Buenos Aires municipality of Junín, was nominated for her work caring for the environment, and the private management technique Roberto Rocca, from the city of Campanawas chosen for the innovative process of comprehensive transformation of its physical spaces and learning processes.
the contest World’s Best School Prizes promotes that schools around the world play a fundamental role in the performance of teaching, in the development of the next generations, and make an important contribution to the progress of society, especially in the wake of the coronavirus. In both institutions, project-based learning is proposed with an interesting vision of equal opportunities, which are experiences that exist in the world and that have been adapted here to improve learning.
“The Sarmiento school has an eco ideas project, which links a value that is the relationship of education with organizations and children, thinking about how to improve the environment, creating awareness and promoting citizen participation,” Sileoni explained to the Telam portal. and detailed: “The Rocca school, with a decade of very relevant work, has an original idea of transforming physical spaces by putting the student at the center, promoting autonomy and the circulation of learning.”
in next september a shortlist of 15 finalists will be announced, three per category, and in October, will be published the five winning schools, which will receive the stimulus award. They will be chosen by a jury made up of academics, educators, NGOs, social entrepreneurs, governments, civil society and the private sector from around the world.
The organization that has awarded the prizes since last year, in collaboration with Accenture, American Express, Yayasan Hasanah and the Lemann Foundation is T4 Education and its president, Vikas Potacongratulated the Buenos Aires schools “for being included in the lists of schools shortlisted in the Top 10 of the World’s Best School Prizes 2023”.
