The Victoria miracle didn’t work. The Berliners lost 1:3 (0:1, first leg: 0:3) against Hamburger SV in the promotion relegation of the Regionalliga Nordost to the 2nd division.
Although Viktoria dominated after the early deficit in the 11th minute, Aylin Yaren was only able to equalize after a foul by Sarah-Vanessa Stöckmann on Danya Barsalona (71st).
Irma Schittek (89./90.+5) scored twice for the HSV victory. Star guests: HSV legend Horst Hrubesch and Berlin’s Governing Mayor Kai Wegner.

The failure in the relegation is a setback for the Viktoria project, which is accompanied by prominent investors such as Olympic skiing champion Maria Höfl-Riesch. However, managing director Lisa Währer had already put the ambitions into perspective before the second leg.
“It was never the absolute goal and the absolute must to get promoted this year,” she said. Now she has to push the project again in the third division with her colleague and ex-national player Ariane Hingst in the coming season. And local and league competitor Union is also gearing up for promotion to the Bundesliga.
