Along the Bleiswijkseweg, on the side of the Plas van Poot, there is a five meter high wooden tower with a black pointed roof. Is it a watchtower, a mini inn, a tree house or something else? indebuurt goes to investigate.

You can see the wooden tower near the Dutch Innovation Factory, on a lawn between a few trees and shrubs. If you are driving on the Bleiswijkseweg in the direction of Bleiswijk, the tower will be on your left.
A lot of animals
The wooden tower should attract animals such as rabbits, hedgehogs, bees, bumblebees and birds. The tower consists of several floors with straw bales, wooden pallets, plants, insect hotels and nesting boxes. A bat loft has been set up under the pointed roof and the bird box is intended for owls. Jeroen Bazuin of Bats & Birds says: “Hopefully we will attract the rare multi-tailed bat.”

Big brother is watching you
The animal flat is located at the Plas van Poot: a unique nature reserve where cormorants, foxes, blue herons and ducks live and breed. It is not possible to get into this area or to enter the tower. Observation cameras will be installed to keep an eye on life in the tower. The tower is part of a nature education program of the Friends of the Plas van Poot. You can just watch because the images can be seen on this website.
