Bundesliga debut in May
SC Freiburg is lending its defensive talent Kimberly Ezekwem to SC Paderborn for a year. The 21-year-old should gain match practice with the second division team in the coming season, the Europa League participant announced on Friday. Ezekwem moved to Freiburg from the youth record champions FC Bayern in 2018, in the second team of the sports club he has played 30 games in the 3rd division and celebrated his Bundesliga debut against RB Leipzig on May 6th.
“Kimberly is on the go. In the past he has always fought back brilliantly after injuries and we really believe in him,” said SC sporting director Klemens Hartenbach. “Now, with the loan to Paderborn, he can gain the necessary match practice and competitive toughness in the second division.” Paderborn’s sporting director Benjamin Weber said: “Kimberly has very good footballing qualities with which he can push the game forward . He can be used on the left position in the back three as well as on the left wing. With his skills, he fits perfectly into our game system.”
