Nyman, 18, who represented the Ilves league team in the last two seasons, signed a three-year rookie contract with the Seattle club, which has a total value of 2.85 million dollars. The amount includes an $80,000 signing bonus.
The forward, who turns 19 at the end of July, is the Kraken’s second-round selection from the 2022 draft. Last season, Nyman played 29 matches for Ilves, scoring 14 points (10+4).
The Kraken, who joined the NHL in 2021, had a great season, as the team collected 40 more points in the regular season than in its debut season. In the playoffs, the expansion club pulled off a major upset in the first round, derailing the reigning champion Colorado Avalanche to a chorus of boos. The season ended with a second against the Dallas Stars in a series that stretched to seven games.
