Movie! This is why cowboys and Indians walked through Buytenwegh in 1999

In the television program Straat op Stelten, a random street in the Netherlands is put on stilts. In 1999, presenter Fabienne de Vries came up with a remarkable assignment for the residents of the Lisztrode in Buytenwegh. We found a video in the archives.

Within two hours, as many residents as possible had to gather Indians, cowboys and wigwams and all go line dancing. With this they could win an amount for a Unicef charity.

Strict requirements

Resident John took on the role of team leader and provided music by Muziekvereniging Buytenrode during the line dancing. The jury checked after two hours whether all cowboys, wigwams and Indians met the requirements. For example, a cowboy had to wear at least a hat, a scarf, jeans and boots, the Indians only sufficed with a braid, an ornament, a robe and make-up.
