As expected, RB Leipzig has signed goalkeeper Leopold Zingerle from second division soccer club SC Paderborn.

The 29-year-old Leopold Zingerle comes free transfer from the second division soccer club SC Paderborn and is planned as number three in Leipzig. The Saxons announced this on Wednesday (June 7th, 2023). The club did not provide any information about the contract period.

Zingerle has played 140 games for the SCP in the past five years and has scored 28 times in the Bundesliga.

Behind Gulacsi and Blaswich

Zingerle, who was Jannik Huth’s substitute in Paderborn, should line up in Leipzig behind captain Peter Gulacsi and Janis Blaswich. Norway international goalkeeper Örjan Nyland will leave the club at the end of the month.

“Leo is a goalkeeper with plenty of experience in the first and second division, who has a strong positional play. He is very agile and very variable with both feet in the game structure,” said Leipzig’s sporting director Max Eberl.
