Marsch also seems to be one of those trainers who keeps getting jobs even though he really has nothing worth mentioning to show for it. Craziness.
Nothing isn’t entirely true either. He did a great job at Salzburg and, among other things, developed an Erling Haaland. Marsch stands for brutal pressing football – if that works, it’s usually an offensive spectacle. He can no longer afford to make many more missteps like in Leipzig or Leeds.
Well, Salzburg is also crassly dominant in Austria. There is less serious competition there than in other leagues. I wouldn’t attach too much importance to the successes there. Neither is his pressing. It might work because you’re the most dominant team in the league. At all other stations, this did not work at all.
Of course you can say he developed Haaland. However, Haaland was considered an absolute top talent even before the RB change. That was nobody who flew under the radar until then and was then really discovered by him. In the end he only had to deal with him for half a season anyway. He moved to Dortmund in the winter.
In my opinion, march is completely overestimated. One of the few RB school coaches that I’m not a fan of at all.
