The Italian soccer record champions Juventus failed to qualify for the Europa League.
A 1-0 (0-0) win at Udinese Calcio on the last day was not enough for Juve, and the old lady ended the season in seventh place. Also because of ten points that were deducted from the club as a punishment for alleged accounting fraud.
Europa League finalist AS Roma secured sixth place ahead of Turin at the last minute. The club, which lost 4-1 on penalties to Sevilla FC in the final on Wednesday, won 2-1 (1-1) in the home game against Spezia Calcio with a late goal by Paulo Dybala (89′, penalty kick). Spezia handed the defeat for relegation.
Instead of Spezia, Hellas Verona got it. With the 1:3 (0:1) defeat against AC Milan, the club from Veneto follows Sampdoria Genoa and US Cremonese in Serie B.
