Shares Frankfurt: Dax again at 16,000 points

FRANKFURT (dpa-AFX) – After the thin trading on Whit Monday, the Dax (DAX 40) reached the round mark of 16,000 points again on Tuesday. Around noon, the leading German index was up 0.51 percent at 16,034.66 points.

The MDAX for medium-sized companies gained 0.51 percent to 27,061.56 points. The EuroStoxx 50 (EURO STOXX 50) as the leading index of euro zone increased by 0.3 percent.

Market sentiment is gradually improving with the preliminary agreement on the US debt dispute, wrote ActivTrades analyst Pierre Veyret. Until a final agreement is reached, however, market volatility will probably remain high. Congress still has to approve the recently reached compromise in the debt dispute, which is anything but certain.

Investors at Daimler Truck rewarded a possible alliance in Asia with a plus of 0.9 percent. The truck manufacturer wants to merge large parts of its Asian business with competitor Toyota (Toyota Motor).

Aroundtown (Aroundtown SA) shares led the MDax with an increase of 4.7 percent. The commercial real estate specialist felt the effects of falling building values ​​and real estate sales in the first quarter, but confirmed its annual targets. UBS said there was progress in reducing debt.

The shares of the wafer manufacturer Siltronic increased by 3.9 percent. The investment house Jefferies had recommended it for purchase. The fundamentals are solid and there are first signs of an end to the cyclical downturn in the industry, argued expert Constantin Hesse.
