The car bridge on the Holwert ferry dam remains in place. As a result, some of the passengers on the Oerd ferry cannot disembark. After leaving Nes, De Sier turned back to Ameland.
Ger van Langen, director of Wagenborg, reports this. Passengers from the Oerd ferry without a car were able to disembark on Monday evening, but motorists will certainly have to wait a few more hours. The boat arrived in Holwert around eight o’clock.
“This means that we cannot unload the boat and cannot bring people home in time after a nice Pentecost weekend,” says Van Langen. “An extremely annoying problem.”
Reverse to Nes
After the report of the malfunction, the ferry Sier turned back to Nes. It is not yet known if and when the boat will leave for Holwert again. The problems with the car bridge will first have to be solved. “Only one ship can dock in Holwert at a time. We want to facilitate people, but we don’t know when we can do that yet.”
Rijkswaterstaat, the manager of the bridge, is working to remedy the malfunction. It is not yet known how long that will take.
