The United States is discussing with allies the possibility of completely isolating Russia from the global financial system with all the ensuing consequences for business and the population in the event of a Russian “invasion” of Ukraine, US Deputy Secretary of State Victoria Nuland said.
In this regard, Russia has developed a plan to protect against new sanctions. “We have such plans… We have a financial “shield” in the form of gold and foreign exchange reserves, a low level of debt, a budget surplus and rules. There is a certain wall, a barrier to sanctions in Russia,” said Finance Minister Anton Siluanov.
“I can’t say that Russia will not feel anything. Of course, it will. But we are counting on this situation. We will have to work in different conditions. Of course, at first this will lead to volatility, but what to do? Not the first time,” the head of the Ministry of Finance stressed.
