A 27-year-old man from Romania drowned around three o’clock on Sunday afternoon in a puddle in the Surea nature reserve near Dorst. The man had gone swimming and was in distress. The victim was resuscitated, but medical assistance was of no avail. The man died on the spot.
Some young people saw it happen and immediately called the emergency services. The victim was taken out of the water by divers from the fire service and resuscitated. In view of the seriousness of the situation, an air ambulance was also called. Medical aid was of no avail.
Witnesses to the incident are being collected.
