FC Bayern is looking for a successor to Hasan Salihamidzic. Max Eberl from RB Leipzig is apparently a candidate for the German record champions.

The eleventh championship in a row had hardly been bagged when FC Bayern announced the personnel bang. Oliver Kahn and Hasan Salihamidzic have to vacate their posts on Säbener Straße.

Jan-Christian Dreesen succeeds Kahn as CEO, as Munich confirmed on Saturday afternoon. It is still unclear who will replace Salihamidzic.

According to “Bild” Max Eberl is “an issue” at Bayern. The TV channel “Sky” reported that there had already been a conversation between the club officials and the official last week.

The 49-year-old worked successfully as sporting director at Borussia Mönchengladbach between 2008 and 2022. The ex-professional has been employed as Managing Director Sport at RB Leipzig since last December.

FC Bayern separates from Salihamidzic

For the past three years, Salihamidzic has held the post of sports director at Bayern Munich. Between 2017 and 2020, the 46-year-old worked as a sports director – now the separation.

“The course of this season after the winter break and different opinions about the future direction of our team have led us to agree with Hasan Salihamidzic on an immediate termination of his activity. The decision was difficult for us,” said club president Herbert Hainer in a statement FC Bayern. She was told to Salihamidzic by him and Hoeneß “in a constructive, respectful conversation”.

The sacked sports director revealed: “I’m proud to have worked for almost six years with sporting responsibility for FC Bayern. I would like to thank all the players, the coaches, the entire team behind the team and the employees. It was one nice journey that I would have liked to continue, but I respect the decision of the board of directors.”
