Too bad the computer-generated mega-brador Clifford doesn’t look very lively

In the evening he is a bright red puppy, the next morning an equally furry giant dog. His name is Clifford, and he only has to wag his tail to destroy the entire house of his 12-year-old buddy Emily (Darby Camp). It’s her love that made him grow to monstrous proportions, it seems.

With his cheerfully reckless demeanor, this wonder beast makes himself as impossible as he is indispensable in the harmonious Manhattan of Clifford the big red dog† Following previous animated series and films, this is the first live-action adaptation of Norman Bridwell’s children’s books, with a computer-generated mega-brador as the main attraction.

That computer-Clifford never really looks very lively, unfortunately. The messy scenario doesn’t end there either. Fortunately, the film has enough charm, thanks to the (not always appetizing) scenes where Clifford is allowed to be a normal dog – albeit just a really big one.
