Greta, on Rai 2: plot, cast, ending of the film and where to see it

THEsabelle Huppert and Chloe Grace Moretz are the protagonists of Greta, a breathtaking thriller airing tonight at 21.20 on Rai 2. Directed by Neil Jordan – director, among others, of Interview with the vampire –, revolves around the dangerous relationship between a girl and an adult woman, born of an apparently casual meeting.

Gretathe plot of the movie

The film begins with the discovery of a bag on a seat on the New York subway. Frances McCullen (Chloe Grace Moretz) he reads the owner’s address on the documents and goes to her door. To thank her, Greta Hideg (Isabelle Huppert) invites her for coffee. The lady tells her that she is a widow and that she has a daughter, Nicola, who lives in Paris for study purposes.

They begin spending time together, although Frances’ roommate Erica Penn (Maia Monroe) warns her since he doesn’t look kindly on this new friendship. Frances senses something strange when one evening, opening a locker, he finds several bags identical to the one he found on the subway. Behind each is a post-it note with names and phone numbers, including his.

He understands that Erica was right and he cuts off all contact with Greta, but Hideg doesn’t agree and openly tells her that she wants to replace her mother, who died a year earlier. She kicks off persistent calls and stalking, until she goes to dinner in the restaurant where she works as a waitress. Frances orders her to leave her alone, but Greta replies that she needs a mother and, immediately after, she makes a scene that has a dramatic epilogue: she is hospitalized due to obvious mental disorders.

A story of kidnappings and segregations

Once discharged, he starts stalking Frances again in an even more insistent way and his friend Erica ends up in his sights too. Frightened, they ask for a restraining order, but the measure is not immediate. In the face of the slowness of justice, Frances investigates alone and discovers that Greta is not French at all, but Hungarian. Furthermore, her daughter does not live in Paris for study reasons, but she committed suicide years before her due to her mother’s mental imbalance.

The picture becomes more complicated because Greta kidnaps Frances. In order not to arouse suspicion, he takes possession of the girl’s cell phone and writes to Erica that she went to her father’s house. To his father, Chris McCullen (Colm Feore), he writes that he is on vacation with Erica. And meanwhile, Frances discovers documents and clothing of other girls kidnapped earlier.

The imprisonment flows between piano, Hungarian and cooking lessons. During one of these, Frances cuts off Greta’s finger, causing her to pass out. She takes advantage of the precious minutes to try to escape, but the doors and windows of the apartment are sealed. He takes refuge in the basement and finds Samantha, another woman who was kidnapped some time ago. Meanwhile she is joined by Greta, who stuns her into unconsciousness.

The ending of Greta

Having no more news, Chris begins to worry about his daughter and hires a private investigator, Brian Cody (Stephen Rea). Turns out that Greta is a former nurse, fired for abusing anesthetics. To see clearly, Cody goes to the woman’s house and notices a secret passage behind her piano. He finds Frances, but doesn’t have time to react, because Hedig hits him in the neck with a syringe. A short scuffle begins, at the end of which Greta grabs Cody’s gun and kills him.

The film jumps in time. A girl shows up at the door and agrees to stop for a coffee. Shortly after taking a sip, Greta faints. It was Erica who drugged her, made unrecognizable thanks to a wig. Once their friend is freed, they lock her in a trunk and run away. That’s not all, because at the end Greta manages to move the latch of the trunk. The nightmare, therefore, is not over yet.
